Welcome to this week’s Saturday Sketch, where we take a simple layout and explore all the creative possibilities it can spark. Sketches are one of my favorite tools for getting started — they offer structure, but still leave plenty of room for personal style and interpretation.
This Week’s Sketch
I found this sketch online (no designer listed), but it immediately caught my eye. The overlapping circles and banner create a playful focal point, and the tall left panel gives you a great opportunity to showcase your favorite patterned paper.
Sketches like this are wonderful because they’re flexible. You can flip the layout, rotate it, or simplify it depending on your supplies and the look you’re going for.

My Interpretation
This week, I wanted to focus on using my Lovely & Beautiful Designer Series Paper in different ways. DSP is such a powerful design tool — a single pack can create so many moods and styles.
I created two cards using the same sketch:

🌸 Best Wishes Card
- Soft, floral, and elegant
- Warm Calypso Coral background
- Layered flower cut out from Lovely and Beautiful DSP with gold accents
- A sweet, uplifting sentiment for my stash

🖤 Thank You Card
- Bold contrast with Scret Sea, Petal Pink, and Basic White
- Layered die‑cut flowers Used Impressions Ablooms
- Mixed patterns for added texture
- A crisp “Thank YOU” sentiment from my stash
Even though both cards use the same DSP collection, they each have their own personality. That’s the magic of sketches — they guide you, but they don’t box you in.
Give the Sketch a Try
I’d love for you to use this sketch as a jumping‑off point for your own creativity. Pull out your DSP, choose a color palette you love, and see where the layout takes you.
If you create something inspired by this sketch, please share it in the comments or tag #SketchwithRPM. Seeing your interpretations is one of my favorite parts of this series.
Final Thoughts
Sketches remind us that creativity doesn’t have to start from scratch. A simple layout can open the door to endless possibilities — and I hope this one inspires you to create something beautiful today.
Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you next Saturday with a brand‑new sketch.
