Sometimes you sit down at your craft table with an idea in mind…and then one thing leads to another. Before you know it, you’ve used a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and somehow created a card with a whole lot going on!

That’s exactly what happened with this Halloween card.

I started with a Basic White card base. I also reached for some Basic Black cardstock to create several of the Halloween elements.

For the background, I used our masking paper to cover a circle near the top of the panel. Then I used Memento ink and blending brushes to create the dark background. Once I removed the mask, I used Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie inks to create my moon.

But I wasn’t finished with the background yet!

I ran the inked panel through the Swirls of Magic Embossing Folder, which added just the right amount of  texture.

Then came the fun part—adding all the little details!

I used the Painted Pumpkin Dies to create the fence from Basic Black cardstock and gave it some additional texture with a sanding block. I used Halloween-themed dies for the ghosts, tree, and pumpkins.

And then there was the “EEK!” I cut the letters using alphabet dies and used the new Old Olive Mulberry Specialty Paper to give the sentiment a little something extra.

There are a lot of products and techniques packed into this little Halloween card, but I think that’s part of the fun of creating!

I recreated this card and sharing the techniques on my Thursday Live, so if you’d like to see exactly how the background, moon, fence, and other elements came together, click below to watch!

Until then, I’ll be over here confessing that sometimes the craft table gets a little carried away.
