There is something about the changing seasons that I look forward to every year. In August, we begin to feel the weather changing. Sometimes the shift is subtle, and other times it is anything but! By September, the changes become more noticeable, and before we know it, the leaves on the trees are beginning to show off their beautiful colors. Then October arrives, and it feels like autumn is in full swing!
That is exactly what came to mind when I pulled out the Glow of Harvest Designer Series Paper (#168598). With its beautiful autumn-inspired patterns and warm colors, this paper practically called out to be featured on a card!

The Glow of Harvest DSP includes pumpkins, leaves, acorns, and florals in a lovely palette of browns, beige, and a little Cajun Craze. But what makes this paper extra special is its gentle shimmer. It adds just a little something extra without overwhelming the beautiful patterns. Sometimes, the paper really can do the work for you!

For this week’s Saturday Sketch, I chose Card Sketch #37 from Cardz TV. It was a wonderful layout for showcasing the DSP while leaving room for a few special embellishments. (I did edit some of the measurments.)
I reached into my button collection to add a touch of something old and familiar, then paired it with jute from the Neutrals Jute Combo (#168468). A few sunflowers finished the card and brought everything together with that unmistakable autumn feeling.
I love how a simple sketch can give us a starting point while still leaving plenty of room to make a design our own. And when you have beautiful patterned paper like Glow of Harvest, you don’t need to add too much to create something special!
Now it’s your turn!
Do you enjoy letting your designer series paper take center stage, or are you someone who loves adding lots of layers and embellishments? I’d love to hear how you like to use your favorite patterned papers!
Until next time, happy crafting!
