Sketch Saturday is one of my favorite weekly creative rituals, and today’s card is a beautiful celebration of autumn textures, shimmer, and stash‑friendly die cuts — all inspired by Sweet Sunday Sketch #286.

This sketch is such a classic: a strong left‑anchored circle, a vertical strip for balance, and plenty of room to play with layers. It’s the kind of layout that works for any season, but it feels especially perfect for fall.

🍁 Supplies & Measurements

Here’s the full breakdown of what I used:

  • Pecan Pie cardstock — 4″ x 11″, scored at 5‑½”
  • Basic Beige cardstock — 4″ x 5‑¼”
  • Earthen Toned Metallic Specialty Paper (retired) — 3‑⅞” x 5‑⅛” panel + ⅜” x 5″ strip
  • Glow of Harvest Specialty DSP — 3‑¾” x 5″ panel
  • Spotlight Circle Dies — Early Espresso + Basic White circles
  • Sentiment + shadow dies from my stash — Early Espresso + Basic Beige
  • Paper Pumpkin April–June 2025 add‑on dies — acorns in Crumb Cake + Early Espresso
  • Various leaf dies from my stash — Basic Beige + Early Espresso
  • Basics Twine Combo Pack — linen twine bow

🍂 Glow of Harvest: August Product of the Month

The Glow of Harvest Specialty Designer Series Paper has been one of the stars of August. Its gentle shimmer and warm fall palette make it ideal for cards like this one.

Colors: Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Golden Glow, Pecan Pie

This paper is available only while supplies last, and it adds instant depth to any autumn project. If you haven’t picked it up yet, now is the moment.

🍁 How the Sketch Guided the Design

Sweet Sunday Sketch #286 gave me a clean structure to build on:

  • The circle focal point was perfect for layering Early Espresso and Basic White.
  • The vertical metallic strip added shimmer without overwhelming the design.
  • The Glow of Harvest panel brought warmth and movement.
  • The die‑cut acorns and leaves created a seasonal cluster that feels cozy and dimensional.
  • A simple linen twine bow finished the card with rustic charm.

This sketch is one I’ll return to again — it’s adaptable, stash‑friendly, and great for showing off specialty papers.

🌿 Happy Sketch Saturday
