Today’s Sketch Saturday is all about showing how a simple layout can spark two completely different cards — one soft and floral, one rustic and outdoorsy — all from supplies already in my craft space.

I used OWH Sketch #97 as my starting point. I love this sketch because the panels are perfect for scraps, and the clean structure makes it easy for beginners while still giving experienced cardmakers room to play.

💐 Card 1 — Petunia Pop Florals (Stash + Scraps)

For my first card, I pulled out a handful of Petunia Pop scraps from the 2025–2026 In Color DSP. The elongated white oval was left over from a past kit, and the flowers and adhesive‑backed gems were treasures from my stash. The sentiment comes from the Mix & Match collection that’s still available.

Why I chose this sketch:
Those small panels were perfect for using up the patterned scraps I couldn’t bear to toss. The sketch gave me a clean framework, and the floral cluster on the oval helped soften the geometric lines.

What I changed:
I kept the measurements close to the sketch but let the florals spill slightly beyond the oval for a more organic feel.

🚲 Card 2 — Lakeside Retreat (April 2026 Paper Pumpkin)

For the second card, I stayed true to the sketch measurements and used only supplies from the April 2026 Paper Pumpkin: Lakeside Retreat. The outdoor artwork, bicycle, and little details made this sketch shine without needing anything extra.

Why I chose this sketch:
The panel sizes in Sketch #97 naturally highlight the kit’s artwork. The long vertical panel was perfect for the cabin scene, and the smaller rectangles let me tuck in the fish and sentiment without crowding the design.

What I kept exactly the same:
All the measurements — this sketch works beautifully straight out of the box.

✨ Why I Share Sketches Each Saturday

Sketches are one of the easiest ways to start creating — whether you’re brand new to cardmaking or you’ve been crafting for years. They help you use what you already have, make the most of your scraps, and spark ideas when your creativity needs a nudge.

If you try this sketch, I’d love to see what you make. Share your card and tag me or use #SketchWithRPM so our community can cheer you on.
