Sketch Saturday arrived a little late this week, but creativity doesn’t follow a clock. Freshly Made Sketch #688 inspired three different cards — each showing how sketches can be followed, stretched, or completely reimagined. They’re wonderful for sparking ideas and using scraps from your stash.

Here’s the sketch that started it all. I love how simple shapes can open endless possibilities — whether you follow them exactly or let them guide your imagination.
Measurements that I used:
- An 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Basic White card stock. With the 11″ side faceing up score at 4-1/4″. The fold on score line. This is a top folding card with landscape orientation.
- Top layer 4-3/4″ x 2″
- Matting layer for top layer is 4-7/8″ x 2-1/8″
- Bottom strip measures 1-3/8′ x 4-3/4″
- Matting layer for bottom strip 1-1/2″ x 4-7/8″
- Rectangle for sentiment measures 2-3/4″ x 1-7/8″
Remember you can use different colored card stock and DSP of your choice.

This card stays true to the sketch layout. I used sunflower‑patterned paper and layered panels to keep the design clean and balanced. Sometimes following the sketch closely helps you see its structure clearly before experimenting.

This version came together from leftover patterned paper that has retired. Sketches are perfect for stash‑busting — they give you a framework to use what you already have in fresh ways.

For this one, I let the sketch inspire placement but changed proportions and added playful heart details. It’s a reminder that sketches are starting points, not rules.

One sketch, three stories — each with its own personality. I love seeing how the same foundation can lead to completely different results.

Which version speaks to you? Try Freshly Made Sketch #688 with your own stash and share your creation with #SketchWithRPM. I’d love to see your interpretation!
