This week I worked with OWH Sketch #219 and paired it with the beautiful Pleasant Patterns Specialty Designer Series Paper. The soft spring designs and metallic foil accents made it a perfect choice for creating an elegant Mother’s Day card.
Card Design Details:
The layout is simple but striking, which is why I love using sketches as a starting point. For this card, I used:
- A Basic White card base (8-½” x 5-½”, scored at 4-¼”)
- A panel of Pleasant Patterns Specialty DSP for the focal layer
- A strip of silver foil to add a touch of shine
- Pretty in Pink cardstock to bring warmth and softness to the design
The combination of soft florals and metallic accents creates a balanced look that feels both delicate and polished.
Why This Sketch Works:
OWH Sketch #219 is incredibly versatile. The horizontal layering allows you to highlight specialty paper while still adding dimension with simple cardstock strips.
Tips & Variations:
- Swap the pink for lavender or soft yellow for a different spring vibe
- Use gold foil instead of silver for a warmer tone
- Add a sentiment layer or embellishments for extra detail
Tips & Variations:
- Swap the Tulip DSP for a different spring vibe
- Use gold foil or maybe even a sparkly ribbon instead of silver foil for a warmer tone
- Add a sentiment layer or embellishments for extra detail
Closing:
If you’re looking for a quick yet elegant card design, this sketch is a great one to try. It’s perfect not just for Mother’s Day, but for any occasion where you want a refined, feminine touch.
