Today I’m sharing one of the alternate projects I created during Thursday’s Facebook Live — a cheerful Gate Fold birthday card made with the Pretty Party Kit from Stampin’ Up! along with a few supplies from my craft space. This design came together beautifully with the soft balloon colors, gold accents, and a simple belly band to hold everything closed.
The Pretty Party Kit is already full of festive elements, but I love showing how you can stretch your supplies even further. This alternate card uses pieces from the kit in a fresh way while adding a few touches from my stash to finish the look.

- Stamp set — used for the sentiment
- Cajun Craze ink
- One card base panel measuring 4‑1/4″ x 5‑1/4″
- Cut into two pieces: 2″ x 5‑1/4″ each
- Coordinating colors and balloon imagery that inspired the whole design

- Golden Glow cardstock
- Cut to 8‑1/2″ x 5‑1/2″
- Scored at 2‑1/8″ on each side to create the gate fold
- Balloon dies — three different shapes
- Oblong oval label from a past kit for the sentiment
- Gold striped ribbon
- Golden Glow cardstock
- A 4” x 5-¼” piece of Basic White cardstock which is the insert of the card
- Basic White belly band
- Cut to 2″ x 9″
📐 Card Measurements
- Card base: 8‑1/2″ x 5‑1/2″, scored at 2‑1/8″ on both sides
- Front panels: (2) pieces at 2″ x 5‑1/4″
- Belly band: 2″ x 9″
- Balloon die cuts: assorted sizes
💡 Design Notes
This card is all about layers and movement. The gate fold opens to reveal the festive balloon trio on the front, accented with gold foil splatter and a soft color palette. The belly band keeps everything neatly closed and adds a polished finishing touch with the gold ribbon bow.
It’s a great example of how you can take the elements from a kit and mix them with your own tools to create something unique and personal.

✨ Final Thoughts
The Pretty Party Kit is already packed with creative possibilities, but alternate projects like this gate fold card make it even more fun. I hope this inspires you to look at your kit pieces in new ways and mix them with your favorite dies and cardstock.
