Today I just wanted to play with the <\/span>Painted Patch Designer Series Paper<\/b> and thought I\u2019d share the card that came out of my experimenting. I had already used the <\/span>Painted Pumpkins dies<\/b> to cut some pumpkins from the DSP, and I wanted to give them a home on a card. At the same time, I revisited a favorite technique for building a wreath.<\/span><\/p>\n

Building the Wreath Base<\/b><\/h2>\n

To start, I cut two squares of cardstock from my stash, each measuring 3\u2011\u00be\u201d x 3\u2011\u00be\u201d. I adhered them together so the corners overlapped, creating a star\u2011like shape with eight points. This shape becomes the guide for stamping a wreath.<\/span><\/p>\n

Using my old stamp positioner (a MISTI works perfectly too), I temporarily taped the star shape inside the tool. Then I cut another 3\u2011\u00be\u201d x 3\u2011\u00be\u201d square from <\/span>Basic White cardstock<\/b>. For the wreath, I chose a vine stamp from the <\/span>Painted Pumpkins stamp set<\/b> and inked it up with <\/span>Mossy Meadow<\/b>. With the cardstock taped in place, I stamped the vine on one corner, lifted the lid, rotated the square to the next point, and repeated. After rotating through all eight corners, I had a lovely wreath image.<\/span><\/p>\n

Assembling the Card<\/b><\/h2>\n

Next, I cut the stamped square in half (1\u2011\u215e\u201d each). Each half was matted on <\/span>Basic Black cardstock<\/b> cut to 2\u201d x 3\u2011\u215e\u201d. I adhered one panel at the top of a top\u2011folding A2 card base and the other at the bottom, leaving equal margins around them. Between the two panels, I added a 1\u201d x 4\u201d strip of the Painted Patch DSP.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the focal point, I layered circles cut with the <\/span>Spotlight on Nature dies<\/b>: a 2\u2011\u00be\u201d circle of DSP topped with a 2\u2011\u00bd\u201d circle of Basic White. This became the perfect spot for my sentiment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finishing Touches<\/b><\/h2>\n

To embellish, I tucked in the pumpkins I had cut earlier from the DSP, arranging them at the bottom of the circle and card base. A few adhesive\u2011backed sequins from my stash added just the right sparkle.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2728 This project was such a fun way to combine a wreath\u2011building technique with the Painted Patch DSP. It\u2019s stash\u2011friendly, playful, and gives those pumpkin die\u2011cuts a chance to shine.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Cut cardstock squares<\/b> \u2013 Two 3\u2011\u00be\u201d x 3\u2011\u00be\u201d squares, adhered offset to form a star shape.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Stamp wreath<\/b> \u2013 Use a vine stamp in Mossy Meadow ink, rotating the Basic White square through all eight points.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Trim and mat panels<\/b> \u2013 Cut the wreath square in half (1\u2011\u215e\u201d), mat each on Black cardstock (2\u201d x 3\u2011\u215e\u201d).<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Assemble card base<\/b> \u2013 Adhere one panel at the top and one at the bottom of an A2 card base.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Add DSP strip<\/b> \u2013 Place a 1\u201d x 4\u201d strip of Painted Patch DSP between the panels.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Layer circles<\/b> \u2013 Cut a 2\u2011\u00be\u201d DSP circle and a 2\u2011\u00bd\u201d Basic White circle; layer for sentiment.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Embellish with pumpkins<\/b> \u2013 Add die\u2011cut pumpkins and adhesive\u2011backed sequins for finishing touches.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
